For small builders and remodelers

Your customers hear from you every Monday. You don't have to write it.

Status calls, receipts in the truck and paperwork after dark eat the week of a small contractor. BuildWhy OS drafts a plain weekly update for each customer, ties every receipt to its job, and hands your accountant one clean file at tax time.

Opening to a small group of builders first.

The job is going fine. The phone keeps ringing anyway.

The windows are backordered, so nobody has been on site since Thursday. You know why. The homeowner doesn't, so they call. The receipts from Tuesday's supply run are in the cup holder, the change order lives in a text thread, and what the job actually cost gets figured out in April.

Nobody is doing anything wrong. There is just nothing keeping the customer, the crew and the books on the same page.

How it works

01

The Monday update drafts itself

Each customer gets a short email: what got done last week, what is planned this week, and anything holding it up. You read it, change what you want and send it.

Kitchen remodel, week of the 19th
  • Done: cabinets hung, rough electric passed inspection
  • This week: countertop template Tuesday, tile Thursday
  • Heads up: window delivery moved to the 28th
02

A schedule that watches the forecast

Mark which tasks are outside work. When rain or a cold snap is coming, you see it in time to move the crew inside, swap days or tell the customer before they ask.

03

Receipts go to the job, not the cup holder

Snap a photo and it reads the vendor, amount and date. Pick the job and the cost lands in that job's numbers. At year end, one export gives your accountant the receipts, bills and job costs together.

04

Paperwork your customer can sign

Estimates, contracts and change orders fill in from the job's own details. Send a link, the customer reads and signs on their phone, and the signed copy stays with the job.

Built on a system cities already run on.

BuildWhy OS is the builder edition of CityWhy OS, the platform local governments use to keep their projects, records and people in one place. The pieces a contractor needs are already in it. The planning and boardroom tools a two-truck shop doesn't need stay out of your way.
